The Kop out Entry (sorry folks!)Well, it's been a while, and let's face it I haven't been up to date for some time now - so rather than languish behind like a 12 year old on the families Friday supermarket shopping trip I thought I'd at least put some info on here about my movements and activities over the last 4 weeks (already- never!) - I may update this after the War has finished, sorry did I type War, I meant World Cup. Ok, here'yar.....
- Branching out?!! - Went around agencies with Nuno and friends looking for extra and advert work and ended up doing a casting for a TV ad, improvising a party scene - again had to dig deep (see 'New Career?' entry)
- Kenty arrives, watch Champ League final, meet Caty and Lisa who I know only through Maria (who I don't really know) reading my blog - but they're all cool chicas and that's the main thing!
- Arctic Monkeys - Amazing gig,I was impressed - although nobody joined in my shouts of 'Oh Sheffield!' - but missed out on after show drinks with em' unlike Wendy, Amy and Maddy (Nice lads by all accounts, even helped Wendy look for missing purse and gave her money for a taxi home - ahhh bless)
- ...Instead opted for a night at Lux to see Theo Parrish and Yen Sung (and even managed a chat with her later in the club - not sure if I managed to hide my starstruckness (it is a word,ok?).
- Bairro Alto night with Kenty, meeting up with Caty and Lisa again, headed to Tejo Bar, played Yankee footy with a baby outside a church - obviously!
- Lots and lots of work (ok, this is in here just to keep the folks happy - no tellin' ok?)
- Brother arrives mid-week, only 12 days too late for the Arctic Monkeys gig, it was a good try though.
- We meet lots of German's, nice meal at Tomas's, cool Jazz funk band, Lisbon football stadium tour (all 3 prem teams), OKA and Mercado - Bro goes home.
- Super Bock Super Rock - Franz Ferd and Keane, they w'alright but the not the Monkeys ah the?
- Joe arrives from Barcelona, World Cup Kicks off, spent 1st game with Maria and the gang at German institue (Lots of German people again, I think they are following me..)
- Nice Fish (just for you Joe (Sheff not texas)), Piri-piri Chicken, Ginjinha,
- England - Paraguay, Early doors, too early, not open. Beers, England win, TV crew appear, interviewed in Portuguese on the news - did well to say I've no idea what she asked me (it appeared on the news, friends(?), students laugh at my Portuguese, only joking it was immaculate! Joe heads off.
- Meet Nuno and friends in Alfama, where his mates have set up a temporary bar for the festival and ill-advisedly (Hindsight?) rigged up a power cable across the street to watch the Portugal v Angola game.
- Power cable gets caught on the roof of passing bus and the show comes crashing down along with a street light and power - locals are not amused, Police and Fire Brigade turn up.
- Power restored, party continous, Police and Firemen (people) stick around to watch the game. Old Lady dances in window and then joins the party - she rocks!
- World Cup Continues, lessons discontinue - 2 bank holidays and San Antonio Festival in Alfama - sober occassion.
- Head to Barcelona for Sonar festival - kip on Joe's sofa after traumatic communication problems (don't panic).
- First day of Festival, meet Amanda, England win against Trinidad and Tobago, celebrate goals a little too loudly in a predominantly irish filled, irish pub (a novelty in itself), back to festival, meet Tefl gang - meal and night in Barcelona (it's like I was never away - cracking bunch, good to see them/you all again)
- Full second day at festival, followed by late night with Gilles, Bugge, Herbert, Shadow and Kenny, some bighead called Jeff was a bit noisy and tryed to mess it up for everyone - who invited him?
- Fat Freddys Drop steal the show on the 3rd day and I go home happy! Meet Amanda on return, drunken chat-funny!
- Amanda day - ok so we didn't get up til late, but had a nice walk and breakfast/lunch/tea before bumping into a idyllic spanish fiesta, dancing, kid's singing type do (you know), felt a little surreal, like we'd walked into a movie set.
- Convinced Amanda that Amanda day should involve a bit of Brasil v Ausrtralia. Meet Jenny n Maria for a last drink together.
- Flight home came round all too quickly, and before I knew it I was outta there, after a brief panic as my flight didn't appear on the boards (seems they'd changed the time by 20 mins without me knowing - swines, I was in a proper flap)
- Work, Work, Work - England Match - yeay we're through ;-( No Owen (a myserious case of 'Gouldin knee' as it's known to the pro's), Work, Work, Work.....
- Sao Joao Festival (Toy Hammers) tomorrow....(tbc)
